Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has dismissed suggestions that Arne Slot has lost the dressing room, insisting there is "no question at all" about the head coach's standing among the playing squad.

Szoboszlai spoke to the Daily Mail ahead of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield, with the interview published as questions about Slot's future intensified following the draw. The Hungarian was direct when asked whether the players, like many supporters, had lost confidence in the Dutchman.

"That's not a question at all. He's our manager. And we are in his second season. In his first season, don't forget, we won the Premier League. So no one lost faith in him from our side."

He acknowledged that the season has been collectively unsatisfying while placing responsibility on the squad as well as the staff.

"The supporters must know that we are also unhappy with this season. We are really concerned. Rumours come and go but he proved that he's able to win the Premier League and we proved it as a team, as a staff, as a club that we are able to win the Premier League."

On what needs to change, Szoboszlai was measured rather than prescriptive.

"It's not my job to tell you what has gone wrong or what is right. That's why we have a manager and a staff behind him, to find out how we can get out of here and tell the players what we have to do."

On his own individual form โ€” he has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists this season to become Liverpool's standout performer โ€” Szoboszlai noted a shift in his role.

"Last season I was a little bit in the shadow. I did everything for the team, which I do now as well. But this season I've been able to add more to the end product."

Slot enters the final year of his contract this summer. Liverpool are expected to back him for next season alongside a significant squad rebuild, with Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and goalkeeper Alisson Becker all departing or uncertain. Whether the squad assembled around Szoboszlai next season justifies the faith the dressing room is publicly maintaining in their head coach will be known quickly.
