The Black Cats fell behind early through Kieran Morrison before Le Fée levelled with a stunning strike, and Timur Tutierov's composed finish shortly after half-time put Sunderland ahead. Liverpool responded through a long-range effort from Dominik Szoboszlai, before Federico Chiesa restored their lead and Lewis Koumas added a late fourth to complete the win.
Speaking to safc.com, Le Bris was pleased with how his side handled a game of two distinct halves.
"It was an interesting game — two different halves. We split the game time and for the first half we started with good intentions and were progressive. We conceded an early goal but we felt like we found the solution with the ball and without the ball. We were dominant in the first half and we felt like we were getting better as a team. We scored and that was really important," he said.
The head coach was similarly encouraged by what the second period offered his younger players, even as Liverpool's changes took their toll on the scoreline.
"It was another 45 minutes to build the foundations. The second half was a good experience for our young lads," he added.
Le Bris also singled out Le Fée for special praise, highlighting how the France international's role has evolved beyond a purely attacking one since his move to Wearside.
"In this central corridor Enzo is brilliant. He can connect really well with other midfielders with quality and freedom. But he is now building this connection with the centre-back and the goalkeeper as well. After that, he is creative and decisive, which is impactful for the game," he said.
Sunderland remain without several players who featured at this summer's World Cup, but Le Bris's side continue to bank valuable minutes as they progress through their pre-season schedule. The Black Cats now continue their US tour with a trip to New Jersey to face Leeds United on Thursday, kick-off 6.30pm ET, as preparations continue ahead of the new Premier League season.
The performance offered further evidence of the progress Le Fée has made since arriving from Rennes, with the midfielder increasingly viewed as the fulcrum of Sunderland's build-up play rather than purely a creative outlet further forward.
Liverpool, by contrast, used the friendly to hand debuts and fresh minutes to a number of academy graduates under new manager Andoni Iraola, with Morrison and Koumas both catching the eye either side of the more experienced Szoboszlai and Chiesa coming off the bench. For Le Bris, results in these fixtures remain secondary to the physical and tactical foundations his squad is building before the season begins in earnest.
