Sevilla brought in Félix Correia on loan from Lille in the closing days of the summer window, and the Portuguese winger has explained to Estadio Deportivo why he chose Nervión as his next step.
He said, "Sevilla is a great historic club. José Ignacio Navarro spoke to me and explained that it was a project to compete, to bring Sevilla back, which is also very important.
"Then it was a question of feeling affection for the person, for Ignacio especially. He spoke to me, explained things and told me it would go well. I chose Sevilla because it's a great club, a historic club."
The loan, agreed without a fee attached beyond Correia's salary, runs until June and can be turned into a permanent deal for an option Sevilla have not yet disclosed. It followed the departure of winger Iheanacho Oso to Strasbourg, and Correia arrives with 48 appearances, five goals and seven assists for Lille last season, having previously come through Sporting CP's academy before spells at Manchester City, Juventus, Parma, Marítimo and Gil Vicente.
Sevilla's other deadline-day arrival is proving similarly influential. Youssouf Fofana, on loan from AC Milan without a purchase option after a move to Lyon collapsed, has made a strong impression in his first four appearances under head coach Luis García Plaza, and scored in Saturday's game against Barcelona despite finishing on the losing side.
Estadio Deportivo reports that Sevilla, despite their well-documented Financial Fair Play problems, are already exploring whether they can find a way to keep the France international beyond this season, even with the whole campaign still to play.
