The flashpoint came just before half-time when Real Betis' Nelson Deossa fired the ball at Bafodé Diakité after being fouled by the Bournemouth defender, sparking a brawl involving players from both sides.
Former Manchester United winger Antony, who left Old Trafford for Betis last summer, was seen pushing several Bournemouth players before clashing directly with midfielder Alex Scott, with the pair shoving each other until the referee showed both a red card.
Marcus Tavernier had given Bournemouth the lead in the 41st minute, with Cucho Hernández levelling for Betis before Evanilson restored the visitors' advantage; Pablo Fornals completed the scoring late on to make it 2-2.
Head coach Marco Rose was satisfied with the response his side showed after the setback.
"We started with some problems. I think we had too many ball losses, but then we came better in our game. It's always if we win balls, then we start to gain confidence. And I think we came better and better into this match," he said.
"So at the end, 10 against 10, it was like two boxers up and down. I'm very pleased with the performance of the lads and now we have one game more to go and then we start."
Scott will miss Bournemouth's final pre-season friendly against Mainz on 15 August as a result of the red card, meaning his next appearance is likely to come in the club's Premier League opener against Manchester City on 23 August.
Away from the first team, Bournemouth confirmed two academy departures over the weekend. Centre-back Max Kinsey, 21, has completed a permanent transfer to Truro City following a season-long loan with the National League side, during which he made 19 appearances.
Kinsey has been on Bournemouth's books since 2021, progressing through the youth ranks before making his first-team debut in the FA Cup against West Bromwich Albion in January 2025, and featuring in 22 Premier League matchday squads along the way.
Left-back Alfie Merritt, 18, has meanwhile joined League Two side Newport County on a season-long loan for 2026/27, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Southern League side AFC Totton, where he made 13 appearances and scored once. A product of the academy who signed his first professional contract last summer, Merritt has continued to train regularly with the first team and will now look to build on that experience with regular first-team football at Rodney Parade.
