Nils Schmadtke has rejected allegations surrounding his departure from Bayern Munich, insisting he never leaked confidential information to the media.

The club confirmed this week that its head of scouting will leave on January 31, 2027, following an agreement to end his employment early. Schmadtke joined Bayern in October 2024 and was responsible for scouting the first team and the club's academy.

In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Schmadtke said he felt compelled to respond to reports about his character and conduct.

“I have never passed confidential information on to the media. Not in Munich and nowhere else,” he wrote.

He also rejected claims about his management style, while acknowledging that he could be demanding when it came to standards.

“I have never put down people who were under my responsibility. I am demanding, and sometimes uncomfortable, when it comes to quality. I am not disrespectful.”

Schmadtke further insisted that the reports circulating about him had no connection with the decision to leave Bayern.

“Nothing that has been written had even the slightest connection with my departure from FC Bayern. I do not speak publicly about internal matters. I have not done so at any of my previous clubs, and that will remain the case now.”

His comments follow reports alleging that he adopted an authoritarian approach to managing staff and that confidential information from his department had reached the media. Those claims have not been established as fact, and Schmadtke has firmly denied them.

Bayern Munich announced the separation on November 2, describing it as a mutual agreement following discussions. Sporting director Max Eberl praised Schmadtke's contribution, saying he had been a major support in scouting and first-team squad planning over the previous two years.

Schmadtke was regarded as a close ally of Eberl, with the pair having previously worked together at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Despite that connection, the club will now move forward without him.

Schmadtke has declined to discuss internal details publicly, choosing instead to challenge the allegations and defend his professional reputation.
