Indeed, Enrique is insisting the pledge stands and threatening to pay all 100,000 members' annual fees personally if he fails to deliver the Manchester City star.
Riquelme was speaking on El Partidazo de COPE the morning after Florentino Pérez appeared on Horizonte to dismiss his rival's Haaland claim as a "bluff" and announce his own record-breaking transfer intent.
"Here we all know how this works — you have to protect the player. His environment protects him and I think that is fantastic. But I hold the same position as yesterday. I will not give more details about contracts. I maintain the same: if I am president, Rodri and Haaland will play at Real Madrid. And if they do not play, my promises are there — I will pay the membership fees of the members."
The challenger then delivered arguably his most significant announcement of the campaign, revealing that former Spain head coach Vicente del Bosque has agreed to join his project on an advisory basis.
"In a completely selfless way he is going to be part of our project, only for the good of Madrid."
Del Bosque, who led Spain to their 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 triumphs, joins a project that already features former Madrid captain Raúl as designated sporting director, Fernando Hierro as academy director and Iker Casillas in an advisory capacity.
On the possibility of Jürgen Klopp — now responsible for football at Red Bull — taking the coaching role, Riquelme was notably cautious.
"Klopp is a great manager, but I cannot confirm anything. I have never sat down with Klopp or any other manager. That is handled by the sporting structure."
The election takes place on Sunday. Pérez remains the strong favourite to win a seventh presidential term.
