Diomandé did not travel with RB Leipzig to Austria on Saturday, citing a reported illness, though he has continued training separately from the squad.
Speaking to Sky Sport Germany on Monday, Schäfer addressed the transfer directly: "It's clear that some self-proclaimed transfer experts reported a few days ago that the deal was done, or gave it the 'here we go.' That's simply not the case. We haven't reached that stage yet."
Pressed on the agent dispute surrounding the player, he added: "There's been a change of agents. Our point of contact now is Roc Nation, Yan made that very clear to us. I don't think a transfer would fall through because of that, if a transfer even happens in the first place."
Diomandé rejoined Leipzig last Monday after a post-World Cup holiday in Abidjan, undergoing a medical that same day and completing part of an open training session with the group, all while speculation over a close Real Madrid move continued to swirl without ever quite closing.
By Tuesday, he trained apart for the first part of the session and was not seen with the group at all for the second, a sensible precaution for a club unwilling to risk an injury derailing a transfer of this size. New head coach Martn Demichelis has yet to work with him at all, with Diomandé instead training alone in recent days.
The agent saga remains the more concrete obstacle.
According to Marca, a legal complaint filed by Maxidel Management, Diomandé's former representation agency, against his current one, Roc Nation, is what is actually holding up the move to Real Madrid.
The dispute over transfer commission has reached FIFA and has caused considerable frustration inside the Bernabéu, where Real Madrid negotiated with Roc Nation, the Jay-Z-owned agency that also represents Vinícius Júnior and Endrick, without apparently being told at any point about the outstanding legal dispute with Max Gradel, the owner of Maxidel.
