Adingra returned to Sunderland for the time being after Monaco opted against triggering the purchase option in his loan deal, worth a reported โฌ5-10m, following an inconsistent second half of the season in the Principality that nonetheless included three goals and two assists in 17 appearances.
The Ivory Coast international's future at the Stadium of Light remains far from settled. Leipzig have registered their interest in the 24-year-old, who could theoretically be lined up as a replacement for compatriot Yan Diomande, should the fellow winger push through his own exit from the club.
RB Leipzig are far from alone in the chase, however, with a genuinely crowded field of suitors now tracking the winger. AS Roma, along with Championship sides Ipswich Town and Hull City, plus Premier League club West Ham United, have also been credited with an interest in Adingra, with West Ham reportedly having already opened talks.
Monaco, meanwhile, are said to be exploring the possibility of taking the winger back on loan for a second spell, having valued him at around โฌ22m.
Adingra already boasts a decent body of experience for a player his age, having made 74 Premier League appearances and 17 in the Europa League for Sunderland and previous club Brighton.
The right-footed winger, who is under contract at Sunderland until 2030, also earned a place in Ivory Coast's squad for this summer's World Cup on the back of his Monaco loan spell, further boosting his profile heading into a summer where his club future remains genuinely uncertain.
He offers an exciting profile that would represent a smart addition for whichever club eventually wins the race for his signature, even if Leipzig's stated preference would be to continue working with Diomande for at least one more season before turning to Adingra as his long-term successor.
