Esposito is closing in on a new deal after a breakout campaign in which he helped Inter win the Scudetto and Coppa Italia double, contributing 10 goals and six assists in 48 appearances despite competing with Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez for a starting spot.
His representative, Mario Giuffredi, confirmed the player's intentions to Sportitalia: "Pio is staying at Inter, he wants to stay at Inter, we all want him to stay at Inter and Inter want him to stay," ruling out any alternative scenario.
Giuffredi added that talks over improved terms were progressing smoothly: "Everyone has made themselves available to discuss the renewal. We're talking about it calmly because there's a very serious club on the other side," and expressed confidence a deal would be finalised soon: "In the proper time, Pio's renewal will be completed, no doubt about it."
The new contract is expected to run until 2031 and lift Esposito's salary to around €3m a season plus bonuses, a significant increase on his current terms, with the move confirming Inter's faith in the 21-year-old as a long-term successor at centre-forward.
The club stood firm on his development a year ago, when coach Cristian Chivu blocked several Serie A sides interested in taking him on loan, and more recently saw off interest from Newcastle United, Manchester United and Arsenal, none of whom found any encouragement from player or club to pursue a move to England. The deal is expected to be signed once Inter's pre-season tour concludes.
Inter Milan are also exploring the market for reinforcements out wide, reviving their interest in Al Ittihad forward Moussa Diaby. According to Sky Sport, the club have made a fresh approach for the 27-year-old, a target they first explored during the January window, as they weigh up a rapid, one-on-one profile capable of providing depth and width on the right.
The France international, who has also played for PSG and Bayer Leverkusen, joined the Saudi club from Aston Villa for around €60m two years ago, and the main obstacle remains his salary, which is well beyond what Inter would typically pay.
Any deal would likely require Al Ittihad's cooperation in covering part of his wages to make the move financially viable for the Serie A champions.
