Manchester United's newest signing, Cristian Orozco, has completed his medical in England and is set to be formally unveiled as a Red Devils player, bringing an end to a lengthy wait to seal his move.

The Colombian midfielder became eligible to join United this month after turning 18, having agreed his move from Fortaleza CEIF last year. He captained Colombia at the 2025 Under-17 World Cup before United struck their agreement, and has spent the intervening months continuing his development in South America, including his senior debut for Fortaleza.

Speaking to ESPN Colombia after returning home from his trip to Manchester, Orozco identified learning English as his most pressing priority away from the pitch.

"I expect to learn a lot of English. When I was there, I realised just how, how important it is," he said.

The teenager was clear that succeeding at Old Trafford will depend on more than his ability on the ball, insisting his immediate focus is settling into his surroundings before trying to prove himself in matches.

"I want to arrive and learn as quickly as possible. That's what's required so I can show my level and everything I'm capable of. I want to adapt to everything that comes my way as quickly as possible," he explained.

United had committed to the signing long before Orozco was old enough to complete the move, a sign of how highly the club rates him. Comparisons have already been drawn with Chelsea's Moises Caicedo owing to his combative style in midfield. He is understood to be joining up with the Under-21 squad for pre-season, though his longer-term pathway within the club's development structure will only be determined once he begins training in England.

Orozco also spoke about the attributes he believes can help him break through at Manchester United, while acknowledging the scale of the challenge ahead.

"I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique. I have those qualities and, with the gift God gave me, I don't think it will be too difficult. But everything is about adapting. I'm very young and that's what I'll need to do," he said.

Reflecting on the move as a whole, his message remained a simple one: "I hope to adapt as quickly as possible."

United's recruitment team, led in South America by scout Giuseppe Antonaccio, had monitored Orozco closely before agreeing the deal with Fortaleza.
