Manzambi struck after 12 minutes on his 21st birthday, while Jackson’s first-half double put Villa in command of their Champions League meeting at Villa Park. Ross Barkley scored twice after the break before Tammy Abraham completed the biggest European win in the club’s history.
For Jackson, the result mattered more than his own contribution, although the Senegal international was pleased to continue his recent scoring form.
“A very good win today. The second day of the Champions League, and we were very happy to get the win and clean sheet,” he said.
“I’m just playing, trying to score every game and winning and helping the team.
“Playing for the manager as well is very important, and just trying to win games and focus on the pitch, that’s the most important for me.
“I’m very happy. The most important that we win, and hopefully next time I will get the hat-trick!”
Jackson also highlighted the growing understanding between himself and Manzambi, whose goal helped set the tone for the evening.
“He’s a really top, top player. I’m very happy that we’re playing together. Hopefully we score many goals together and give each other assists a lot.
“I’m very happy to play with him, and hopefully many more to come with him. He’s an amazing player.”
The striker also welcomed the contribution of Ibrahim Mbaye, his Senegal team-mate, who has been working towards a bigger role at Villa.
“He’s an amazing player as well. We play in the national team together, so we have a good connection. We talk a lot.
“He is progressing. Hopefully he will get more time to play. He’s a very amazing player. He’s very fast, as well as me.
“It’s good to have him today. Hopefully, many more starts and many goals to come for him as well.”
For Manzambi, the evening carried a significance beyond the result. It was his first Champions League appearance, his first goal in the competition and a birthday celebration shared with his family.
“I am very, very happy,” he said. “My first Champions League game, first goal for my birthday – my family were here.
“It’s very nice and a great night for me.”
The Switzerland international was equally pleased with Villa’s collective performance and the clean sheet.
“That was very good. To score six goals and no goals conceded is nice for us and for the fans it’s amazing.”
Manzambi, who joined Villa in the summer, said he had quickly felt at home at the club.
“It’s an amazing team, amazing fans and I am very happy to play here,” he said. “I hope I can give my best for the fans and for the club.”
Jackson’s brace and Manzambi’s birthday goal were part of a team performance that left Aston Villa with two wins from their opening two Champions League matches.
