The 19-year-old made 21 appearances for Cadiz in the Spanish Segunda Division after joining on loan midway through 2025/26, scoring three times. That followed a quieter first half of the season at KVC Westerlo, where he made eight appearances following his move to Newcastle from Malaga in the summer of 2025.
Cordero's switch to Tyneside came off the back of a productive campaign in Spain, where he scored six goals in 39 Segunda Division appearances for Malaga during the 2024/25 season, form that persuaded Newcastle United to beat competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona to his signature.
Rather than being fast-tracked into first-team contention, the winger has instead been given a route through loan spells to continue building senior experience.
His first loan, at Westerlo, proved difficult, with Cordero restricted to just seven substitute appearances and 87 minutes of Belgian football without a single start before the arrangement was cut short in December.
The move to Cadiz, a club with whom Cordero already had ties from a season spent in their youth ranks as a boy, transformed his campaign. After 11 goalless starts, he finished strongly, scoring a brace against Cultural Leonesa and another in a 3-0 win over Leganes as Cadiz secured their Segunda Division survival with a game to spare.
Reflecting on his time there before the new loan was confirmed, Cordero thanked supporters for their backing through a difficult season.
"Thank you for every moment lived with this club, its fans and these colours," he wrote. "You guys are amazing and have been there through it all, through the good and the bad. It is an honour to defend this shield and share so many moments with you. Cadiz will always have a place in my heart."
Newcastle's statement confirming the new loan offered a short send-off, with the club wishing Cordero well for the season ahead as he begins another year away from St James' Park.
