According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Newcastle United placed the 26-year-old under close observation ahead of the summer window and are assessing the possibility of making a formal approach. They join Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Olympique Marseille as confirmed admirers, though no club has yet opened direct negotiations with Roma.
Ndicka arrived at AS Roma on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023 and has since established himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in Serie A. He made 31 league appearances last season, contributing three goals, and was central to a Roma side that qualified for the Champions League for the first time in seven years.
That return to European football's premier competition gives Roma genuine leverage. The club is not under immediate financial pressure to sell, and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been clear that he wants to keep Ndicka. But the management's position is different β with the club's financial obligations under UEFA regulations a persistent consideration, any sale at the right price would generate pure profit on a player who cost nothing.
Roma's asking price is understood to be in the region of β¬35 million.
For Tottenham, the appeal is clear. Roberto De Zerbi is rebuilding the defensive unit from near scratch following a season of near-relegation, and both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven face uncertain futures. Ndicka's comfort on the ball, ability to operate in a high defensive line, and physicality match the profile De Zerbi is known to value.
Newcastle's interest represents a different motivation β they want to compete at the highest level in European competition and require the kind of experienced, technically complete centre-backs that Ndicka represents.
Ndicka is contracted to Roma until June 2028 and is part of the Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup in North America, where he will look to strengthen his own case further.
Roma's bargaining position is strong. The player they have is one that four clubs now want.
