Musiala hails Olise as Bayern's best and says there is more to come

Bayern Munich

Jamal Musiala has described Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as possibly the club's finest player this season, highlighting a transformation across every aspect of his game since his move from Crystal Palace two summers ago.

Olise joined Bayern Munich for โ‚ฌ50 million in the summer of 2024 and has followed an extraordinary debut season โ€” 27 Bundesliga goal contributions โ€” with an even more complete campaign. He has scored 22 goals and provided 30 assists across 50 appearances this term, leading the Bundesliga's assist chart by five over his nearest rival.

He was voted Bayern's Player of the Month for April, a period that included crucial contributions in the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid before Bayern's semi-final exit to Paris Saint-Germain.

Musiala, who first crossed paths with Olise in Chelsea's youth academy before both players took different paths, spoke to Sky Sport Germany about a winger who has become the focal point of Bayern's attack under Vincent Kompany.

"He has taken a step forward in every aspect of his game, and it is great to see. You can see the confidence he has on the pitch, the trust that he will create something and make a difference."

"He is one of the best players, if not the best, this season in my opinion. And if he continues to develop, he will become an even more outstanding player than he already is."

Musiala also spoke separately to the Bundesliga about what makes Olise special alongside Harry Kane and Luis Dรญaz in Bayern's front three.

"With Michael, he has taken a massive step from last season. His mentality is amazing. His 1v1 ability, shooting โ€” I think everything about him is fun to watch. He is definitely one of the best players in the world this season."

Kompany himself has drawn a significant comparison.

"He's very detail-oriented in his work โ€” that's what sets him apart. That was also true of Kevin De Bruyne, whom I watched at Manchester City on his way to becoming world-class. Michael can become one of the best attacking players ever. He's on a very good path."

Olise is contracted to Bayern until 2029 and has spoken of his desire to leave a legacy at the Allianz Arena. Bayern face Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin on May 23, giving Olise one further opportunity to add to what has been a remarkable individual season.
