For Morrison, it has been a breakthrough season that included a first-team debut, the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award in January and a first call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad.
The 19-year-old attacker put pen to paper at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday, ending uncertainty that had lingered over his future as his previous deal approached its expiry this summer. Liverpool held an option to extend his contract by 12 months but chose instead to offer a significantly longer term โ a recognition of the progress Morrison made throughout 2025-26.
He produced 14 goals and four assists in 18 Premier League 2 appearances and was nominated for the division's Player of the Season. Under U21s coach Rob Page, who took charge of the development side in November, he was handed the captain's armband.
His senior debut arrived in October when he featured as a substitute in the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Crystal Palace at Anfield. A further appearance followed in an FA Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in March.
"It's been a massive improvement from last year," Morrison told Liverpool's official website. "That was my goal this year โ just to impact myself and PL2 as much as I can. I think I've done quite well."
He was measured about the milestone.
"As a team, we wanted to get further in the play-offs but we've come a long way as a team, especially with Rob, the new manager, and obviously me becoming captain during it."
Morrison was born in Manchester but qualifies for Northern Ireland through his family background. He was included in Michael O'Neill's squad for friendlies against Guinea and France in June and could earn his first senior cap before the World Cup begins.
The Athletic reported that Morrison is expected to leave on loan for the 2026-27 season, with strong interest from German clubs as well as Championship sides. Wolves and Burnley had explored a permanent deal last summer before Liverpool blocked any exit. The expectation now is that a temporary move will provide the regular competitive football that development academy minutes can no longer offer.
He came through Manchester United's academy before joining Liverpool's setup at Under-14 level. He has been at the club since 2019.
