Giuseppe Marotta described the scenes in Piazza Duomo on Sunday night as unforgettable as Inter Milan's open-top bus parade through the streets of Milan brought the club's scudetto and Coppa Italia double celebrations to a close.

The Inter Milan president spoke to Inter TV during the parade, reflecting on a season that delivered the club's 21st league title and tenth Coppa Italia under head coach Cristian Chivu, the 44-year-old Romanian who took charge last summer in only his second senior managerial appointment.

"Something unforgettable, a spectacle unique in the world. We are enjoying a celebration that will remain in the memory of everyone here."

Marotta was clear that Chivu deserves the central share of credit for what has been achieved.

"Great credit goes above all to him, along with the players. For us in the board, it is a huge satisfaction because we tried something others would not have tried. But we knew we were dealing with a prepared and serious professional. We have made a dream come true."

He also paid tribute to the ownership structure provided by Oaktree Capital, which took control of the club in May 2024.

"The ownership put us in the position to work well, and we supported the squad and the manager."

On the summer ahead, Marotta outlined a strategy of careful reinforcement rather than wholesale change, acknowledging that several players are leaving while insisting the core of the title-winning squad will remain.

"We must continue to build on this squad. Some players will no longer be with us for age-related reasons. We will replace them by trying to create a mix between experience and the freshness of young players."

Lautaro Martínez lifted the trophy on the San Siro pitch after a 1-1 draw with Verona that concluded the home season. Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and defender Matteo Darmian are among those leaving at the end of their contracts. The club also won the Coppa Italia earlier in the week, beating Lazio in the final.
