The Manchester City manager insists the atmosphere within the squad remains positive as his team prepares to return to action against Liverpool, with the club appealing against the independent commission's findings.
City were found to have breached financial regulations over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018. The findings included the use of commercial arrangements that the commission deemed misleading, as well as breaches relating to the club's cooperation with the investigation.
City deny wrongdoing and have challenged the verdict, arguing that the commission's decision contains material errors. Potential sporting sanctions have yet to be determined.
Maresca, speaking after his players returned from international duty, said the club's response had been calm and that he remained confident in its leadership.
“Personally, I am very calm, to be honest. The club has been quite calm. We trust completely the club,” he said.
“We understand the noise, but the focus for us is what we control, and we control the football side.”
The Italian said the players were concentrating on their position at the top of the Premier League rather than the implications of the verdict.
“The feeling is fantastic, to be honest,” Maresca said. “The players are excited for the next two games. But especially they are excited because in this moment we are top of the league.”
City have won their opening five league matches and now face a demanding return to competitive action, beginning with Sunday's visit to Liverpool before a Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.
Maresca acknowledged that the controversy surrounding the club was unavoidable, but maintained that it had not affected the players' approach.
“They know their profession. They know that the noise is there, but they don't care too much about the noise,” he said.
“They are just focused in this moment on how we can beat Liverpool, how we can, together with the fans, try to win at Anfield.”
The Liverpool fixture will be City's first match since the verdict became public, placing renewed attention on the club as it attempts to maintain its strong start to the season.
