Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Jeremy Monga, with Leicester City’s teenage winger now emerging as one of the most watched young talents in England ahead of a possible summer move.

The 16-year-old has attracted attention across Europe after breaking into Leicester’s senior setup, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both linked with the England youth international in recent weeks.

United have now made the most concrete move yet, opening talks over a transfer that could take one of England’s brightest academy prospects to Old Trafford.

Reports in England claim a fee in the region of €7 million is under discussion, with Leicester’s bargaining position weakened significantly after their relegation to League One.

Monga, a right-footed winger capable of operating on either flank, has become one of the few positives in a difficult campaign for the Foxes.

The teenager made 27 Championship appearances this season, scoring his first senior goal and adding two assists as Leicester struggled to avoid the drop.

His rapid rise has not gone unnoticed inside United’s recruitment department, where the club continues to prioritise elite young talent as part of its long-term rebuild.

Bayern and Dortmund have built strong reputations for developing teenage stars, but United appear determined not to let another top English prospect leave the country without a fight.

Old Trafford is now emerging as the strongest possibility.

For Leicester, the timing could hardly be worse.

Relegation has damaged both their finances and their negotiating power, and keeping hold of one of their biggest young assets may already be slipping out of their hands.
