Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus have all dispatched scouts to watch Barcelona attacking midfielder Ebrima Tunkara at the Under-17 European Championship in Estonia.

The 16-year-old's performances for Spain are generating the most intense scouting interest of any player at the tournament.

Diario AS reported the presence of representatives from all three clubs, with Tunkara having contributed one goal and four assists across Spain's opening group-stage matches to establish himself as the standout performer of the competition.

Born in Lamoi, The Gambia in March 2010 and raised in Spain after his family relocated to Catalonia, Tunkara entered La Masia in 2018 and has since developed into one of the academy's most talked-about talents. He operates primarily as an attacking midfielder β€” left-footed, physically imposing for his age and capable of playing on either flank β€” with a style described by Catalan journalists as closer to Yaya TourΓ©'s commanding central presence than the wide-play dominance of Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona moved to secure his immediate future in January, confirming a new contract that came into effect on his 16th birthday in March. He is now tied to the club until 2029 and is being considered for inclusion in Hansi Flick's pre-season squad this summer β€” a deliberate signal of the development pathway on offer.

Tunkara himself has no current desire to leave. His stated ambition is to follow the example of Yamal and Gavi β€” players who developed within the system rather than seeking early exits. Barcelona are confident the contract offers sufficient protection for now.

Whether Manchester United, Manchester City or Juventus can eventually change that calculation remains to be seen. Spain face Italy in today's semi-final, with Tunkara expected to be central to his side's attacking play.
