The Ivorian forward, 33, has been without a club since leaving Galatasaray at the end of his contract in June, and his representatives have offered his services to the Andalusian club following the serious knee injury suffered by Julen Lobete, who tore his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.
According to Matteo Moretto, Malaga's sporting department is now weighing up the option alongside other available forwards.
Zaha built his reputation over two spells at Crystal Palace, making 458 appearances and contributing 90 goals and 54 assists for the London club, as well as spells at Manchester United, Galatasaray and Lyon. His most recent experience came in MLS with Charlotte, where he made 48 appearances, scoring 13 goals and adding eight assists across a season and a half on loan.
The Ivory Coast international was left out of his country's squad for this year's World Cup in the United States but did feature at January's Africa Cup of Nations, continuing a long international career that has spanned more than a decade. At 33 and now a free agent, he is looking for a new destination to continue playing regularly.
For now, there is no advanced negotiation between Zaha and Malaga, and any move remains at an exploratory stage. His name has simply joined a list of players offered to the club since Lobete's injury, which also includes Anthony Martial, though the Frenchman's salary demands make that deal particularly difficult to complete.
Málaga head coach Juanfran Funes has stressed the need for any incoming forward to fit the squad's needs immediately rather than take time to adapt, with sporting director Loren Juarros also mindful of not overcommitting resources ahead of the next transfer window.
Malaga also face a limited window to act. The process for replacing Lobete's registration depends on the date of his injury and, crucially, on when LaLiga issues a favourable medical report, after which the club has 20 calendar days to request the registration of a replacement, provided the relevant requirements are met.
