The Spain-born Morocco international is well placed among the options being considered by Málaga's sporting department to complete the squad, with BILD journalist Nico Linner first reporting the talks, since confirmed by AS.
Dani Sánchez's departure left a vacancy at left-back that sporting director Loren Juarros, working alongside head coach Juanfran Funes, is looking to fill before the market closes. Aznou would arrive to compete with José Salinas on the left, with Málaga's plan to shift Rafita to the right side, where he would battle Carlos Puga for the starting berth.
Aznou was born in Barcelona on 2 June 2006 and began his development at CF Damm before progressing through La Masia. In the summer of 2022 he left Barcelona for Bayern Munich, where he came through the Under-17 and Under-19 ranks, played for the reserves and eventually reached the first team, making his Bundesliga debut and featuring in the Champions League as well.
After a loan spell at Valladolid, he returned to Bayern to take part in the Club World Cup. His versatility allows him to play both at left-back and further forward on the left flank.
His first extended taste of Spanish top-flight football came during the second half of the 2024-25 season, when he made 13 appearances for Valladolid, who were relegated to the second division that year.
Months later, Everton paid Bayern €9m in guaranteed fees, plus a further €3m in variables, to sign him. His first season in England did not bring the continuity he was hoping for, and a temporary exit would allow him to accumulate minutes elsewhere while giving Málaga a young, quick profile with plenty of room to grow. The two clubs are working towards a straightforward loan through to the end of the season.
Funes discussed the closing stages of the market ahead of Málaga's trip to face Real Madrid, underlining his alignment with Juarros: "We're on the same page and share the same opinion on what profile of player could help us.
"I have full confidence in the work Loren is doing."
The head coach did not sound concerned about the deals still to be completed.
"I don't feel a need for rescue, to say 'please, let players arrive', nor do I have an excessive hope that anyone in particular comes. The players who give me the most confidence are the ones we already have."
Beyond the left-back, Málaga are looking to make at least two further additions before the window shuts: a defensive midfielder to add physicality and balance, and potentially a forward-line opportunity should the right one present itself.
