The intervention follows a candid admission of frustration from Alexis Mac Allister last week, after Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch — who both arrived at Anfield in the same 2023 summer window as the Argentine — were handed contract improvements this year.
The midfielder, a former Brighton player, said the situation made him "very, very sad." Acknowledging that Liverpool had yet to make contact following his son's remarks, Carlos told Scores 365: "No one from Liverpool's management has contacted us to renew his contract yet.
"We have a contract that is valid and we are committed to it with Liverpool. And if the club does not offer to renew the contract, it is their right. For now, Alexis has to give his best for the club in every game over the weekend."
Carlos also dismissed speculation linking his son with a move to Real Madrid, one of several clubs reportedly interested in Mac Allister over the summer.
"No-one from Real Madrid has contacted us at any point in the entire career of Alexis," he said. "Alexis is not disappointed. This is a decision that the club makes, and we don't judge their decisions, we just prepare for what's to come."
Mac Allister's own comments, made ahead of last week's Champions League win over Atlético Madrid, painted a more emotional picture.
"There were options to leave this summer," he said. "I think as everyone knows I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which of course makes me very, very sad. I think I give 100 per cent for this football club every single day in training, games... I see Dominik and Ryan renewing their contracts and that makes me very happy because they deserve it, but at the same time, it makes me a little bit sad I didn't get mine."
He was quick to stress his commitment to Liverpool regardless of the contract situation.
"There is still time, the fans don't need to worry because I will give 100 per cent until the last day I am here," he said. "But I think right now I am in the right club and I have the right mindset to give my 100 per cent to the club."
The uncertainty over his future has had no visible effect on his form. Mac Allister has scored twice in his last two matches and is set to feature when Liverpool travel to Bournemouth on Sunday.
