Former Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has offered an enthusiastic first-hand endorsement of Manchester United's imminent signing Éderson.

Loftus-Cheek has faced the Atalanta midfielder repeatedly during his time at AC Milan — including in a 3-2 Atalanta victory on May 10 in which Éderson scored and provided an assist.

Loftus-Cheek, who joined Milan from Chelsea in 2023 and spent three seasons at the San Siro, spoke to Sky Sports at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, providing one of the most informed early assessments of a player who will formally sign at Old Trafford in early July once FIFA's International Transfer Certificate system processes his registration.

"He'll do just fine. The times we've played against each other, he's been very physical. He's quick, he's strong, he's good on the ball. I think he'll do really well — he's a good signing."

Éderson, 26, joins Manchester United for £39m after making 138 appearances for Atalanta, scoring 13 goals. He is a versatile central midfielder capable of operating as a defensive number six or as a more dynamic box-to-box number eight, and was part of the Atalanta squad that reached the Coppa Italia final under Gian Piero Gasperini.

He replaces Casemiro, whose contract has expired, while Manuel Ugarte is also expected to leave the club this summer. Éderson is manager Michael Carrick's first signing since his permanent appointment in January.
