Liverpool are monitoring 16-year-old Nicolás Scotti as the Defensor Sporting winger begins to attract attention from clubs in Europe and South America.
Scotti has already made his senior debut for the Uruguayan club despite his age, although his first-team involvement has so far been limited.
The teenager has generally been introduced from the bench and is yet to score at senior level, but his progress has been enough to put him on the radar of several clubs.
ESPN reports that Liverpool are among the European sides following his development.
There is also interest from within South America, with São Paulo and Atlético-MG having made enquiries about the youngster's situation.
Defensor have placed an $8 million release clause in Scotti's contract, a figure currently worth approximately €6.8m or £5.9m.
However, that may not necessarily be the amount required to sign him.
Defensor are understood to recognise the financial value of developing and selling young players and would reportedly consider a lower offer if the circumstances were right.
That could make Scotti an intriguing prospect for Liverpool, who are able to assess his development before deciding whether to commit to a deal.
The winger is comfortable operating on either flank and is regarded as one of the emerging talents in Uruguay.
His senior experience remains limited, but he has already produced goals at youth level and is part of Uruguay's Under-17 setup.
Across the 2025-26 season, Scotti has recorded two goals in 10 appearances for Defensor and Uruguay Under-17s combined, according to ESPN.
His international progression will also be watched closely, with the teenager expected to move through Uruguay's age-group teams if his development continues.
Liverpool would not be able to simply bring Scotti to England immediately because of the restrictions governing international transfers involving players of his age.
That leaves the club with time to continue assessing him before making a decision on whether to pursue a transfer.
For Defensor, the interest from Liverpool, São Paulo and Atlético-MG provides evidence of the attention Scotti is attracting despite having only just begun his senior career.
His release clause provides a reference point, although reports that Defensor could accept less may make negotiations possible before the winger's value rises further.
