Liverpool raised the possibility of including Denzel Dumfries in any deal for Curtis Jones during negotiations with Inter Milan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Jones, 24, has one year remaining on his contract at Anfield and Inter Milan have been pursuing him ahead of this summer's window. The Italian giants have been unable to meet Liverpool's โ‚ฌ30 million valuation, with a gap of around โ‚ฌ10 million remaining between the two sides.

Liverpool are understood to have suggested that Dumfries โ€” valued by Inter at around โ‚ฌ25 million via a release clause in his contract โ€” could be included to bridge that gap, effectively proposing a swap arrangement with a cash adjustment. Inter have not confirmed whether they intend to pursue the idea.

Dumfries, 30, has been linked with Liverpool for some time and his profile as an attacking right wing-back fits the system incoming manager Andoni Iraola deployed at Bournemouth โ€” a unit built around high energy wing-backs given licence to be aggressive in the final third.

The situation is further complicated by Arne Slot's sacking on Saturday. Iraola is expected to be formally appointed this week, and any significant transfer decisions โ€” including whether to pursue Dumfries โ€” are likely to await his arrival and his assessment of the squad's needs in that position.

Whether Dumfries represents a priority for the new era at Anfield or simply a product of mid-negotiation leverage remains to be seen. Inter are not under pressure to sell and would need to receive a replacement offer for any departure to be sanctioned.
