The situation is further complicated by Arne Slot's sacking on Saturday. Iraola is expected to be formally appointed this week, and any significant transfer decisions — including whether to pursue Dumfries — are likely to await his arrival and his assessment of the squad's needs in that position.
Whether Dumfries represents a priority for the new era at Anfield or simply a product of mid-negotiation leverage remains to be seen. Inter are not under pressure to sell and would need to receive a replacement offer for any departure to be sanctioned.
