Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have both departed on the expiry of their contracts โ departures long confirmed and marked with emotional farewells on the final day at Anfield in the 1-1 draw with Brentford.
Salah leaves as the club's third-highest scorer in history with 257 goals in 442 appearances, also surpassing Steven Gerrard's Premier League assist record in his final game. Robertson exits after nine years and 333 appearances.
Defender Rhys Williams has also left as a free agent after 16 years at the club, having come through the academy and made his senior debut during the injury crisis of 2020-21. Academy players Josh Davidson and Terence Miles are also departing.
The club has yet to publish its full retained list, but confirmed movements are already shaping the picture for Arne Slot's rebuild.
New signing Jeremy Jacquet, the French centre-back signed from Stade Rennais, will be fit to integrate into first-team training when his move to Anfield is formalised this summer. The Athletic reports that his rehabilitation programme is on schedule, with a return to full training expected in early July โ meaning he should be available from the start of pre-season.
Giovanni Leoni, the Italian defender signed last summer who suffered an ACL injury on his debut against Southampton in August, is also on track for full availability at the start of next season. Leoni had been expected to feature heavily in Slot's plans and missed the entire campaign.
Curtis Jones's future remains unresolved. Inter Milan have opened talks with Liverpool over a deal worth ยฃ35 million, with the 25-year-old understood to be open to a move to Italy. Contract talks at Anfield are on hold. Jones played 33 games this season but only started 17, and was used at right-back on multiple occasions โ a deployment he regards as unsuitable for where he sees his career heading.
