Liverpool are keeping tabs on Felix Nmecha as they assess alternative midfield targets, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott reportedly remaining their preferred option ahead of the January transfer window.

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in Scott, but Bournemouth’s valuation could make a deal difficult. The Merseyside club are therefore considering other options, including Nmecha, who has impressed at Borussia Dortmund.

Scott is attracting attention from both Liverpool and Chelsea, with Bournemouth reportedly seeking more than £100 million for the 23-year-old. That price could force Liverpool to look elsewhere, particularly if the clubs cannot reach an agreement over the England international.

Nmecha is among the alternatives under consideration, alongside Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. The 26-year-old is valued at around €90 million by sources cited in the report, potentially making him a less expensive option than Scott.

The Germany international has previously attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea. Neither move materialised during the summer, and Nmecha subsequently signed a new contract with Dortmund.

That agreement has not ended speculation about a possible return to England. Nmecha spent 12 years in Manchester City’s academy before leaving Germany as a young player, and he made three senior appearances for City between 2018 and 2021.

The midfielder has since developed into an established Bundesliga performer at Dortmund. His combination of physical presence, mobility and ability to contribute in possession is understood to appeal to Liverpool’s recruitment staff.

However, Sport Bild also makes clear that Nmecha is not Liverpool’s first choice. Scott remains the priority, with Nmecha viewed as an alternative should the Bournemouth midfielder prove too expensive or opt for another destination.

Dortmund are understood to be reluctant to sell Nmecha, meaning any approach would likely require significant negotiations. While it's suggested a fee around €90 million could open the door to discussions, there is no indication that Liverpool have made a formal bid.

For now, the situation remains at the monitoring stage. Liverpool’s next steps will depend on the cost of their preferred targets and whether they decide that Nmecha represents a realistic alternative for the second half of the season.
