Bayer Leverkusen have emerged as contenders for Andoni Iraola, adding a third serious option to the bidding war for the Bournemouth manager as he prepares to leave the club after Sunday's final day of the Premier League season.

The Telegraph report that Bayer Leverkusen are ready to offer Iraola an alternative to Crystal Palace, who have already placed the Spaniard at the top of their managerial shortlist to replace Oliver Glasner. Kasper Hjulmand is expected to leave the Bundesliga club, who finished sixth this season, opening the door for Iraola.

Liverpool have also been linked. French outlet Foot Mercato reported that sporting director Richard Hughes โ€” who originally hired Iraola at Bournemouth in 2023 โ€” has discreetly begun the process of pursuing him as a potential replacement for Arne Slot, should the Dutchman leave Anfield this summer. Iraola is currently priced as second favourite among bookmakers to take the Liverpool job behind Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique.

Iraola, 43, is departing Bournemouth having overseen the finest campaign in the club's history. The Cherries secured European football for the first time after a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday, finishing in the top half of the table having lost their central defenders and goalkeeper last summer. He has guided the club to sixth place going into Sunday's finale, a remarkable achievement given the resources available.

The Basque coach confirmed earlier this month that he would not be extending his contract beyond its expiry at the end of June. Iraola said on Friday he "still doesn't know" where he will manage next season.

Leverkusen won the Bundesliga two seasons ago under Xabi Alonso, who joined Chelsea this month. The club has struggled to replicate that form and are now seeking a coach capable of rebuilding their momentum ahead of a return to Europa League football.

Three clubs, one coach. Iraola will not be without options.
