Le Fee flattered by Liverpool links but focused on Sunderland's final two games

Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee has brushed aside reports linking him with a summer move to Liverpool, insisting his only focus is on finishing the season strongly with the promoted club.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has been one of the standout performers in Sunderland's debut Premier League season following his Β£25million move from AS Roma last summer, contributing six goals and nine assists in the league. His form has drawn admiring glances from across the division, with Liverpool understood to be among those monitoring his situation.

Le Fee was characteristically composed when the subject was raised.

"It's always good to hear something like this, but it's only the media part. I just care about the end of the season. I think we've got two big games now, and I'm only focused on the pitch."

Sunderland hold a permanent option on Le Fee and are under no obligation to sell. Head coach RΓ©gis Le Bris, whose management has been widely credited as the catalyst for Le Fee's development, is also subject to Premier League interest but has repeatedly deflected suggestions he will leave.

Le Fee joined from Roma having spent the previous season on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, where he was one of the best midfielders in France. At 25, with Champions League aspirations and a contract structure that protects Sunderland's position, any exit would require a significant offer.

Liverpool are in the market for central midfield additions following a disappointing campaign and the expected departure of several senior players. Le Fee's profile β€” a box-to-box operator with quality in both directions β€” fits the template of midfielder head coach Arne Slot favours. Whether Sunderland's asking price and the player's own preference align with Liverpool's interest will be determined when the season ends.

For now, Le Fee's answer is the only one that matters to him.
