Lazio are in advanced talks to sign Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen on a permanent basis, with Danish sources reporting that the 20-year-old is moving closer to a move to Rome following an outstanding loan season in Switzerland.

According to Danish outlet Bold, cited by Italian sources including Il Messaggero, Lazio have opened a formal dialogue with Asp Jensen's representatives and are making swift progress. Multiple clubs from Germany, France, England and Switzerland have also enquired about the Dane, but Lazio are understood to hold a competitive advantage.

Asp Jensen spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zürich from Bayern Munich, where he scored nine goals and contributed six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions — a consistent individual return for a player operating in a team that spent much of the season fighting to avoid relegation from the Swiss Super League. The performances were enough to significantly increase his market value and prompt multiple clubs to register interest.

Bayern have told the player he has no future at the Allianz Arena and will not return to Munich. His contract with the German champions runs until June 2028, meaning Bayern hold the right to negotiate any sale. The club is expected to seek a buyback clause or sell-on percentage given the player's development trajectory.

For Lazio, the appeal extends beyond football. Asp Jensen would join two existing Danish players at the club — winger Gustav Isaksen and defender Mads Provstgaard. All three share the same agency. That pre-existing relationship is understood to give Lazio a natural advantage in the negotiation.

The signing fits incoming Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso's stated summer strategy of building a younger, more dynamic squad. The club is operating with a near-zero net spend policy for the window, meaning deals must be structured carefully.

Asp Jensen joined Bayern from FC Midtjylland for €1.2 million in 2022. He turned 20 in January. The journey from small-town Denmark to a first professional contract in Serie A would be a rapid one — but the form he showed in Zürich suggests the step is not premature.
