Dejan Kulusevski has shared an encouraging fitness update on social media, appearing to move freely in a basketball clip that suggests the Tottenham winger is on track to be available for the start of the season after 16 months out with a patella injury.

Kulusevski, 26, suffered the knee problem in February 2025 and has undergone multiple surgical procedures during a long and complicated recovery. He put himself forward for Sweden's World Cup squad but was left out by head coach Graham Potter, who was unable to take the risk on a player whose fitness had not been fully tested in a competitive environment.

The Instagram post shows Kulusevski picking up a basketball inside the three-point line, driving toward the basket and releasing a pass to a team-mate who scores โ€” movement that required lateral agility and change of direction at match-relevant intensity.

A second post followed showing a Tottenham-branded football next to a training pitch, a further signal that the return to football-specific work is near.

Kulusevski had been one of Tottenham's most productive forwards before his injury, scoring 11 goals and adding 15 assists across his final full season at the club. His recovery and availability will be an important subplot of Roberto De Zerbi's first pre-season, as Spurs prepare for what they intend to be a transformative campaign.
