Germany face the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on Thursday evening, marking Jürgen Klopp's first game in charge of the national team.
Captain Joshua Kimmich, speaking to Sky and RTL, said he has already noticed a shift in energy since Klopp's arrival: "I definitely have the feeling that he's extremely up for the task, and that it means a huge amount to him to be doing this for Germany.
"He brings a lot of energy, drive and real anticipation with him."
Bayern Munich midfielder Kimmich does not expect his own role within the team to change significantly under the new head coach, describing his job simply as helping his team-mates realise their potential.
"It's about helping the team get back to where it belongs and what it has the potential and talent for. It takes character and mentality to get the best out of that talent, and that's where I see my job too."
He identified attitude, both on and off the pitch, as the area that needs the most work heading into the new cycle.
"I think it's mainly about our approach, on the pitch and off it, and within the group. It'll be important for us to rediscover our own DNA and our identity. That identity shows itself on the pitch, off the pitch, outwardly and internally. It shows in how we treat each other, in how we play for each other on the pitch."
