According to Sportmediaset, the Bianconeri are making quiet moves to position themselves for the Spence deal, with sporting director Marco Ottolini — who brought Spence to Genoa on loan during his time overseeing that club in the 2023-24 season — identified as the key figure in facilitating the transfer.
Cambiaso, 26, has been linked with Chelsea all summer, with the Blues identifying the Italian left-back as the natural replacement for Marc Cucurella should the Spanish international depart Stamford Bridge. Manchester City had agreed a deal worth approximately €65 million for Cambiaso in January 2025, only for the transfer to collapse late in the process. Juventus's asking price remains around €50 million.
Barcelona have also been named as admirers of the Italian, who joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022 for €15.5 million. The Turin club retain a 15 per cent obligation to pay Genoa from any future sale as part of that original agreement.
Cambiaso is contracted until June 2029. He is one of the most versatile full-backs in European football, equally comfortable on the left and right sides.
Spence, 25, made 30 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season in a variety of roles, filling in at right-back, wing-back and occasionally higher up the pitch due to squad injuries. He earned a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup. His contract at Spurs runs until the summer of 2029.
Tottenham's valuation is understood to be in the region of €40 million for a permanent transfer. Juventus's preferred structure would be a loan with no immediate obligation to buy — a position that Spurs are unlikely to accept given the player's contract length and their own rebuilding costs under Roberto De Zerbi.
The chain of deals is contingent on the first link holding. If Cambiaso stays, the Spence pursuit does not materialise. If Chelsea or Manchester City move decisively for Cambiaso, Juventus must replace him quickly.
The window opens next month. Both clubs will be watching each other's next move.
