Chelsea are weighing up a move to reacquire Cesare Casadei from Torino this summer, with the Blues holding a 27.5 per cent resale clause in the Italian midfielder's deal that could make a buyback financially attractive, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Casadei made 36 appearances for Torino in Serie A last season, scoring seven goals โ€” a return that has attracted interest from several clubs, including Real Betis.

Chelsea's plan would not be to integrate him into their first-team squad but to repurchase him and loan him on to a new club, with Ipswich Town mentioned as a possible destination.

The midfielder joined Torino in February 2025 on a permanent basis after loan spells with Reading and Leicester City. His development at the Turin club has been the most convincing period of a career that has been spent largely building experience away from Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Inter Milan in 2022.

Chelsea's 27.5 per cent stake in any future sale complicates Torino's ability to negotiate with other clubs directly and gives the London club first-mover advantage if they choose to act. Whether the Blues will exercise that leverage or allow Torino to handle their own outgoing business will become clearer as the window progresses.

For Casadei, the appeal of returning to Chelsea โ€” even temporarily โ€” would lie in the credibility of the club's name rather than the opportunity for first-team football.

A loan to Ipswich from Chelsea would give him Premier League experience for the first time and an opportunity to prove himself in England's top flight after years of building his profile across the lower divisions and in Italy.

Real Betis represent a different route, one that would keep him in continental football but at a club competing in the Champions League next season. Which option he and his camp favour will shape how Chelsea approach the potential repurchase in the coming weeks.
