The defender joined Al-Nassr last August after departing Barcelona on a free transfer, signing an initial deal until June 2026 with an option for an additional season.
According to Saudi outlet Al-Riyadiyah, Martínez has now triggered that clause, ending any prospect of a return to European football.
He made 43 official appearances in his debut campaign under manager Jorge Jesus, scoring four goals and rejecting at least one approach from a Premier League club during the winter window. Despite those overtures, his preference throughout was to remain in Saudi Arabia.
The decision confirms Martínez's intention to see out his professional career in the Middle East, following a playing journey that took him through Real Sociedad, Athletic Club and Barcelona. His two seasons at the Camp Nou — during which he played under both Xavi Hernández and Hansi Flick — ended with the La Liga title and a Copa del Rey winners' medal among his honours.
At Al-Nassr he lines up alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané and João Félix, as the Saudi Pro League club continue to build a squad capable of challenging for domestic honours.
