The Munich-born winger, who has returned to the club after three separate loan spells away, spoke to reporters on the sidelines of Bayern Munich's training camp and made clear he intends to seize the opportunity.
"I am absolutely delighted to be getting the chance at the biggest club in the world," Ibrahimovic said. "I want to prove myself and prevail here, to accumulate as many minutes as possible."
Kicker reports that Bayern had initially explored bringing in fresh competition for the left wing this summer but shelved those plans after committing significant funds to Ismael Saibari, 25, for a central role, leaving the door open for Ibrahimovic instead.
The winger's path back into first-team contention comes after a frustrating run of loan spells, including a recent stint at relegated Heidenheim, and his representatives are understood to feel that his prospects of establishing himself in Munich are finally improving.
He will not be the only option behind Díaz, however, with 31-year-old Serge Gnabry also set to be used on the left following his return from injury, giving head coach Vincent Kompany two experienced alternatives to call upon whenever the Colombian needs a rest or is unavailable.
The plan to lean on academy talent for cover on the left comes at a time when Díaz himself has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Saudi club Al-Hilal having tabled an opening €70m bid for the winger this week.
Bayern have given no indication they are willing to sell, and Ibrahimovic's expanded role suggests the club is planning for Díaz to remain central to their attacking plans for the foreseeable future rather than preparing to replace him in the transfer market.
Should Bayern eventually need to find a long-term successor further down the line, the club's planning appears to lean toward developing Ibrahimovic gradually into that role rather than pursuing an external signing, even if he is not yet considered the finished article after his time away on loan.
