The Norway striker pulled Manchester City level in the fifth minute of stoppage time at Bournemouth with a clinical finish, but the equaliser came too late to give the club any chance of the win they needed to keep the title race alive. Arsenal were confirmed champions with one match to play.
Haaland spoke to City Studios after the final whistle.
"In the end, every game in the Premier League is difficult. We tried. It wasn't enough."
He made clear the mood inside the dressing room was one of anger rather than acceptance.
"The whole club should use this as motivation now. We should be angry, we should feel a fire inside our belly because it's not good enough. It's gone two years now, it feels like forever. We're going to do everything we can, everyone that will be here next season, to win the league."
City's final match of the season is at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, which will also serve as Guardiola's farewell after ten years in charge. The Spaniard is expected to formally confirm his departure to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak before the weekend.
Enzo Maresca is understood to have a three-year deal in place to succeed Guardiola, though the exact timing of a formal announcement depends on the resolution of a compensation package between City and Chelsea, where Maresca's contract was ended in January.
For Haaland, whose 27 Premier League goals this season have placed him among the contenders for the Golden Boot but without the title to accompany them, the summer offers no comfort โ only a starting point for next year.
