Guardiola also endorsed his former player Bernardo Silva as someone who could succeed at any club โ without confirming or denying where he expects the Portugal midfielder to sign.
Guardiola, now a patron of the Johan Cruyff Foundation following his decade at Manchester City, spoke at length about the club that shaped him as a manager and player.
"Whether with players from La Masia or others who have arrived from outside, they have had two extraordinary years, beyond the results obtained. I am a big fan of Hansi Flick. It is very attractive to see this team play, and I hope they continue this way for many years."
He offered a broader caution about what the Champions League does to clubs that become obsessed with winning it.
"This competition destroys projects โ I hope that is not the case with Barcelona. La Liga is what gives you consistency. In the Champions League it is very important to arrive well in the final phase, without injuries, taking into account that the influence of referees in this competition is enormous. The important thing is to keep growing day by day and not to think that, because you did not reach or win the final, it has been a bad season. Leagues are the measure."
On Bernardo Silva โ who has publicly confirmed Barcelona as one of his options after leaving City at the end of this season โ Guardiola was brief and warm.
"Bernardo is too good. He would adapt without problems to any team."
He declined to discuss his own future plans, saying only that he would settle in Barcelona and rest for a period.
"Not even I know what I'll do."
