According to talkSPORT, Bayern Munich have offered the 25-year-old England international a five-year deal — the maximum permitted under German football regulations. The stumbling block is the valuation: Newcastle United are demanding around £75 million, a figure Bayern are so far unwilling to match.
Gordon joined Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 and has developed into one of the Premier League's most dynamic wide players under manager Eddie Howe. He has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions this season, including a Champions League run that saw him break the club's scoring record in European competition.
Bayern opened official club-to-club talks with Newcastle earlier this month. The Magpies are prepared to sell but will not accept below their valuation, particularly as they owe Everton a 15% sell-on clause from the original transfer, which limits their room for compromise.
Newcastle head coach Howe was quick to dismiss suggestions Gordon's head had been turned.
"He wouldn't be in the squad if that wasn't the case."
Liverpool have been linked with Gordon for months but are not expected to move this summer. Arsenal are also understood to appreciate the player and could yet enter the race.
Gordon is contracted at St James' Park until 2030. The World Cup, for which he is in contention with England, is likely to delay any resolution until deep into the summer window.
