Getafe are exploring a move for Vicente Vargas, according to transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, after the 19-year-old winger caught the eye during Santiago Wanderers' 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Saturday's Under-20 Intercontinental Cup final. Moretto wrote:
"Vicente Vargas, the Santiago Wanderers winger, has shown excellent qualities against Real Madrid in the Under-20 Intercontinental final, and there is now interest in him for the future.
"The Red Bull group has already requested information, Getafe, a Dutch club and a German club have looked into the situation. The player is a starter for Chile's under-20 side."
The Red Bull group, which owns clubs including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls, has gone furthest by formally requesting details of his contract, putting Getafe in competition with a global network of scouting for his signature.
Vicente Agustín Vargas Navarro, to give his full name, was born in Viña del Mar on 6 January 2007 and came through Santiago Wanderers' own academy at their Mantagua training complex. He made his professional debut for the Chilean club on 12 April 2026 against San Luis, and has since won the Under-20 Copa Libertadores with Chile and established himself as an undisputed starter for the country's youth side.
He played 78 minutes in the final against Real Madrid, right-footed and usually deployed on the right wing, before Chilean television reported he had also scored for Santiago Wanderers' first team this season.
The interest comes only days after his club's biggest stage yet, in front of a record crowd at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Chilean media have already begun speculating about a sale that could bring a significant fee to a club still known locally as "El Decano".
