Galatasaray are considering a move for Manchester City midfielder Tijani Reijnders after a disappointing debut season in England, with the Dutchman managing just seven goals and seven assists in 47 appearances.

Reijnders' first season at Manchester City was not the success many had anticipated.

Instead, the Dutchman has emerged as a candidate to leave the club this summer, with Sky Sports reporting that Galatasaray have identified Reijnders as a possible target.

The Turkish club are said to be seriously considering a move to bring the midfielder to Istanbul, with talks understood to be in the early stages.

A switch to Galatasaray would mark a significant change of scenery for Reijnders after a difficult debut campaign in the Premier League, with City's hierarchy potentially open to a sale given his struggles to make the impact expected following his move from Italy. Whether Galatasaray can complete a deal, and on what terms, remains to be seen as discussions develop.

City paid around โ‚ฌ57.7m to sign Reijnders from AC Milan last summer, having been Serie A's midfielder of the year the previous season, with the Dutchman expected to provide both creativity and energy to Pep Guardiola's midfield.

His output fell well short of those expectations during his first season at the Etihad Stadium, raising questions over whether English football suited his style of play as comfortably as Italian football had.

Any departure from City would represent a notable setback for a player who arrived with considerable fanfare just twelve months ago, though a fresh start at a club like Galatasaray, who will compete in the Champions League next season, could offer Reijnders a route back to regular, high-level European football.
