Fulham are offering Marco Silva a contract worth around €14m per year in a major effort to prevent the Portuguese manager leaving for Benfica this summer after five years at Craven Cottage.

CNN Portugal presenter Rita Rodrigues reported the details of the offer this week, describing the coming days as decisive in determining whether Silva stays in west London or accepts the Benfica opportunity that emerged following José Mourinho's move to Real Madrid.

"Fulham's offer is worth something close to €14m per year for Marco Silva. Net, that would be around €7m."

Portuguese pundit Nuno Farinha went further, contextualising just how significant the Fulham proposal is in the landscape of Premier League management.

"Marco Silva has an offer in his hands right now which, if he accepts it, would make him one of the four or five highest-paid managers in the Premier League."

The figure puts Silva in the same bracket as managers at clubs with Champions League ambitions, and considerably above the salary levels typically associated with clubs of Fulham's standing. It reflects how seriously the club's ownership — led by Shahid Khan — views the prospect of losing the manager who has been the primary architect of their sustained Premier League presence since promotion in 2022.

Benfica's ability to match those numbers is openly questioned in Portugal, where the club's wage structure has historically been constrained relative to the Premier League's wealthiest clubs. Ruben Amorim, who was previously linked with the role, publicly confirmed this week that he would not be returning to the Estádio da Luz under any circumstances, leaving the conversation around the Benfica vacancy centred on Silva and a smaller pool of available candidates.

Silva, 48, has taken charge of 228 games at Fulham, winning 103 and drawing 42. He guided the club to the Championship title in his debut season and has since overseen three consecutive top-half finishes in the Premier League. His contract expires at the end of June, and the lack of a signed renewal despite months of negotiation reflects the genuine pull of a return to his home country after stints at Hull City, Watford, Everton and Fulham in England.

The key detail from CNN Portugal's reporting is that Silva has not yet accepted. A meeting with Fulham officials is expected in the coming days before any final decision is communicated.
