The Brazilian, who has not been in a Premier League matchday squad since the opening-day defeat to Brentford, posted a clip of himself doing drills captioned “The focus remains”. A second video showed sprint work, with the caption “35.4km/h - I broke my record”.
Richarlison was also left out of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad for the Carabao Cup third-round defeat at Liverpool earlier in the week, and on Tuesday he shared a screenshot of a post about his omission with the message “Why?” and a tearful emoji.
A proposed move to Brazilian side Vasco da Gama fell through last week. He was set to leave north London this summer, but a £35 million deadline-day transfer to Everton also collapsed after the forward failed to agree personal terms.
He was subsequently left out of the Premier League squad amid a dispute between him and the club over the remaining nine months of his contract. He remains in north London and trains with the squad, except when they are working on tactics.
De Zerbi stood firm on Monday, saying he had tried to keep the 29-year-old.
“At the start of this season, I spoke to him many times to convince him to stay and he didn’t want to.
“I can’t go every day to pray for him to stay.
“What I have done at the beginning of this season has been to speak with him and to propose an extension of the contract. If he said, ‘no thank you,’ I finished my job.
“I know what happened in the last 45 days. It’s not right if I explained. It’s not my behaviour. The relationship, the problem is between the player and the club.”
His absence has been compounded by Tottenham’s lack of goals. They had not scored in the league this season until Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke found the net against Villa, and those goals came too late to change the result.
Richarlison, Tottenham’s top scorer last season, signed from Everton in 2022 for £60 million.
