Enzo Alves is set to return to action for Real Madrid’s Juvenil A on Sunday after recovering from the injury that ruled him out for around a month.

The 17-year-old forward has resumed normal training with Álvaro López’s side and is expected to feature against Rayo Alcobendas, giving him the chance to finally begin his season after a frustrating interruption.

Enzo suffered the physical problem after returning from a Spain Under-18 camp and has spent the opening weeks of the campaign working his way back to fitness.

His return comes at an important moment for the Juvenil A. López is currently without Yeremaiah, who is away with Spain Under-18s, while Fran Santamaría is set to join Real Madrid C again.

That leaves Enzo as an important attacking option and allows the forward to start rebuilding the rhythm and minutes he lost during his absence.

The son of former Real Madrid and Brazil full-back Marcelo, Enzo has already established himself in the club’s top youth side. He made the step up to Juvenil A last season and is now entering a campaign in which his progress will be closely followed.

Real Madrid have already seen him develop through the academy from the youngest age groups, and the club lists him as a Juvenil A forward and Spain Under-18 international.

There is also plenty to look forward to beyond domestic youth football. The Youth League provides Enzo with an important European stage, while his international pathway could lead to the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar later this year.

For Enzo, the immediate priority is simpler. After a month on the sidelines, he can return to competitive football, regain his rhythm and begin making up for the time lost at the start of the campaign.

His availability also gives López a welcome boost at a point when the Juvenil A’s attacking options have been reduced by international commitments and player movement within the academy.
