Sarr has not featured for Palace this season, missing back-to-back Premier League defeats away at Everton and at home to Manchester City with a groin problem, and he will remain unavailable for Saturday's trip to Fulham.
His absence has coincided with the collapse of a proposed deadline-day move to Liverpool, a transfer Palace head coach Pierre Sage believes his top scorer from last season will take time to get over.
"He has to digest for sure because it's a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club," Sage said of the interest from Anfield.
"He had a good opportunity but in the end it didn't work. If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time.
"Like every bad situation, time does the job and we need time for that."
With Sarr's long-term future still uncertain, Palace had also been negotiating for Lyon's Malick Fofana on deadline day as potential cover, only for the 21-year-old Belgium international to instead complete a £30m move to Sunderland.
"We gave our best," Sage said of the failed pursuit. "At the end of the day the player chose his criteria and I wish him and them the best because he's a good guy and a good player."
The 28-year-old Senegal international finished as Palace's top scorer last term, a campaign that also saw the club lift the UEFA Europa Conference League, following their FA Cup triumph over Manchester City the previous season.
Liverpool's interest emerged only in the closing days of the window, with reports suggesting the Premier League champions made more than one approach before Palace's resistance, and Sarr's own contract situation, ultimately proved decisive in keeping him at Selhurst Park.
Fofana, meanwhile, becomes part of Régis Le Bris's rebuilt Sunderland squad after choosing Wearside over Palace and other suitors, having scored regularly for Lyon in Ligue 1 last season. His arrival gives Sunderland fresh attacking depth as they prepare for their first campaign back in the Premier League, while Palace must instead find alternative reinforcements or continue relying on Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta to lead the line once fitness allows.
