Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Ludi addressed the situation directly after weeks of speculation linking Paz to a summer move following Real Madrid's decision to exercise their buyback clause before the May 30 deadline.
"We will have a conversation with Real Madrid at the end of the season to understand their intentions. From our point of view, the future is with Nico. It's not just something we hope for β we want him to stay. We trust we can count on him next season. Obviously we can't control everything, so we're prepared for every scenario."
On Inter Milan's reported interest, Ludi was categorical.
"There has been no official exchange of any kind with them. Absolutely none."
Como are on the verge of the most significant achievement in the club's modern history. Sitting fifth in Serie A with three matches remaining and three points from a first Champions League qualification, Ludi was cautious but clear about the ambition.
"We know our potential and we want to win the remaining three games. The points we have earned are deserved. There were some moments we could have done better β the draw at home to Atalanta, for example. But those are individual episodes."
On transfer strategy, Ludi said Como's approach for the summer will not fundamentally change, even in the event of European qualification. Reaching the Conference League or Europa League would bring financial fair play scrutiny, which he described as an additional challenge for the whole club rather than a reason to abandon their model.
"It will remain balanced and coherent. But to make the qualitative leap, it will be even more important to identify players with specific characteristics. Financial fair play would be a further challenge for the whole organisation."
Paz has contributed 10 goals and six assists in 31 league appearances this season and is considered one of the most influential players in Serie A. His future is understood to rest primarily with the decision of Real Madrid's incoming manager β whoever takes charge at the BernabΓ©u this summer.
