Chelsea have confirmed the release of four players from their academy and development ranks, bringing an end to the Stamford Bridge careers of Sam Rak-Sakyi, Jimi Tauriainen, Richard Olise and Brodi Hughes.

Rak-Sakyi made four senior appearances for Chelsea, all in the UEFA Conference League campaign of 2024-25, when the club won the competition. The winger had been regarded as one of the most promising players to emerge from Chelsea's youth structure, but was unable to force his way into regular senior plans.

Tauriainen, a Finland youth international, represented Chelsea on two occasions during the 2023-24 season, including a substitute appearance in a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Richard Olise — younger brother of Bayern Munich and France winger Michael Olise — joined Chelsea's youth system as an Under-9 and spent his entire development career at the club. Hughes joined at Under-8 level.

The club issued a brief statement on all departing players.

"We thank all our departing players for their contributions during their time with the Blues and wish them well for the next chapter in their careers."

Stutter, 21, retains a connection to the club through his month-to-month arrangement — a structure that keeps the door open for a longer deal while giving both parties flexibility ahead of a summer window in which incoming head coach Xabi Alonso is expected to significantly reshape the squad.

The Athletic reported this week that Alonso has identified seven untouchable players — Reece James, Cole Palmer, Moisés Caicedo, Levi Colwill, Estêvão Willian, João Pedro and Josh Acheampong — with Enzo Fernández and Marc Cucurella both understood to be available for sale.

The quartet of departures represents the routine end of youth contracts rather than a significant change of direction. But the summer at Stamford Bridge is only just beginning.
