Fabregas has rapidly established himself as one of the most interesting young coaches in European football after helping Como secure Champions League qualification.
The Spaniard took over permanently after initially serving as interim manager and has subsequently attracted attention from clubs looking for a new generation of coaches.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, however, Fabregas is not in a hurry to leave Como.
Speaking to Betarades.gr, Di Marzio said Fabregas would only consider departing for one of Europe's biggest clubs.
“Fabregas will leave Como only for a super top club like Barcelona or Arsenal, but they’ve renewed the contract of Flick and Arsenal are obviously happy with Arteta,” Di Marzio said.
“I don’t see him going to the first top club that needs him.”
Fabregas has already demonstrated that he is willing to turn down major opportunities rather than leave Como for the sake of it.
“He's like a calculator. He knows that he will coach one of these top clubs. He's not in a hurry because, even last year, he said no to Inter, no to AS Roma, he said no to Bayer Leverkusen, and also Como didn't want to let him go,” Di Marzio explained.
According to the journalist, Fabregas has an exit clause that could be activated by clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona.
“He had an exit clause for top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, so it depends on which of these clubs will begin to struggle,” Di Marzio said.
For Arsenal, the connection is particularly strong. Fabregas spent eight years at the club as a player, became captain and remains closely associated with the identity of the team.
He has also spoken admiringly about Arsenal's patience with Mikel Arteta during difficult periods.
Following a pre-season meeting between Como and Arsenal, Fabregas praised the club's willingness to stick with a long-term plan.
“What you see in football every day, what Arsenal did, especially in the difficult moments, it doesn't exist,” Fabregas said.
He recalled Arsenal's difficult league finishes during the early years of Arteta's tenure and praised the club for maintaining its commitment to the project.
“I told Edu, I told Andrea Berta when I came last year to a Champions League game, I said congratulations to the whole club for the patience, for sticking together, for sticking to the plan.”
Fabregas continued by pointing to the progression that followed those difficult seasons.
“You keep going because you have a plan, because you have an objective, because you have progression, you keep going forward,” he said.
“We lack this in football today. You lose three games, change the coach, he was playing one style, now you play another, at the end of the day, I don't believe in this a lot.”
Arteta is expected to extend his Arsenal contract beyond 2029, making an immediate managerial change unlikely.
For Fabregas, the more important point is that he has already shown he is prepared to wait for the right opportunity.
Como therefore remain his focus, while the presence of clauses reportedly giving major clubs a route to appoint him ensures that his name will continue to feature in future managerial discussions.
