Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has delivered an emphatic message about Julián Álvarez's future, insisting the Argentine striker will remain at the club well beyond this season.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ICAD Workshop Internacional — El Deporte en el Contexto Global event, Cerezo showed no sign of concern at speculation surrounding the 25-year-old forward.

"Julián Álvarez is a player of Atlético de Madrid, and not only for last season but for many more," he said.

Cerezo also signalled that the club intends to add quality to the squad ahead of the new campaign, while avoiding specific names.

"We work continuously to bring the best players to our team. And until August, when the league starts, there is a lot of time to look, see and bring players in."

He acknowledged the season just concluded had been a positive one overall.

"We have had a very good season and we are genuinely in a position to prepare for the next one. When signings happen, they will be announced."

Álvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 and had an influential debut season in the Spanish capital. His performances attracted attention from several European clubs, though Atlético have consistently maintained that he is not for sale.

Cerezo's comments on the sidelines stretched beyond transfer business. He praised the profile raised by Bad Bunny's concerts at the Metropolitano as an example of how sport now intersects with global entertainment and culture.
