The former AS Roma and Real Madrid forward, speaking on the Viva el Fútbol podcast, laid out his preferred Inter structure in detail.
"If I were Chivu I would play a 4-3-1-2: Dumfries and Dimarco as full-backs, Akanji and Bastoni at centre-back," Cassano said. "In midfield: Barella, Calhanoglu and Zielinski."
For the attacking midfielder role behind two strikers, Cassano's pick was unambiguous.
"Then you sign Nico Paz and put him behind Thuram and Lautaro. What are we talking about? You give them the Scudetto before it starts. It's already over."
Paz, 21, had an outstanding season for Como, contributing nine goals and 11 assists as Cesc Fàbregas's side finished fourth in Serie A.
His emergence as one of Italian football's most creative players has generated widespread interest, with Inter Milan, Juventus and Manchester City all credited with serious intent. Real Madrid retain a buyback option understood to be worth €40 million.
Chivu led Inter to a Scudetto and Coppa Italia Double in his first season in charge.
